The Athletic Vision Performance Center at Conestoga Eye is excited to offer
individuals, coaches, and teams strobe glasses to further enhance an athlete’s abilities.

What are strobe glasses?

senaptecstrobes-300x195Strobe glasses are a state-of-the-art training device designed to strengthen the connections between an athlete’s eyes, brain, and body. Through the use of liquid crystal technology, the glasses flicker from clear to opaque. This briefly removes an athlete’s visual information and forces them to process the information they do receive quicker and more efficiently. The glasses are battery powered (the battery lasts approximately 4-5 hours), can be re-charged using an integrated battery, and have different modes to increase the difficulty level.

When does an athlete wear the strobe glasses and for how long?

We suggest an athlete wears the strobe glasses during existing training drills and exercises. If there is a specific skill or drill an athlete is struggling with, wearing the glasses while doing that activity will give them the most improvement. Most athletes will use them for 15-20 minutes a day, up to 3 days a week. The strobe glasses work best when incorporated into your regular practice routine.

What kind of skills can strobe glasses improve?

•  Visual attention
•  Central and peripheral vision processing time
•  Balance stability
•  Visualization
•  Anticipation time
•  Eye/hand coordination, eye/foot coordination, eye/body coordination

How quickly can I see results using the strobe glasses?

Many athletes will see an improvement after using them just 2 or 3 times and will see a significant improvement after 2 weeks of use.

Are these like the Nike strobe glasses?

Nike did produce similar glasses, but unfortunately stopped selling them in 2012. The strobe glasses currently available through Conestoga Eye have built upon the Nike technology, enhancing the opacity spectrum as well as other internal speed factors.

How do I get started?

The glasses can be purchased from Conestoga Eye’s office. Either a coach can direct their use, or the head of our Athletic Vision Performance Center can spend time working with an athlete/team to help integrate the glasses into a training program (additional cost may apply for on-site integration).
